One end of the gold foil is welded with platinum wire to embed it within the PTFE rod. The electrode’s tail is capped with a gold-plated wire column to prevent oxidation.
Commonly used in conjunction with a rotating disk electrode system, utilizing very high-purity gold wire. It offers a larger surface area and stronger inertness compared to platinum wire. Effective in reducing hydrogen evolution.
